Film on MMS scandal? No, says Kangana 16 December 2010, Mumbai Mirror
The otherwise audacious Kangana Ranaut chickened out of Balaji’s controversial next, Ragini MMS.
Kangana would have played the title role in the film. Some fresh good looking faces have now been cast in the film, which takes off later this week and releases in March next year.
Unlike Love Sex Aur Dhokha, Ragini MMS will be pitched as a sensuous, paranormal thriller. But like most such Bollywood films, Ragini MMS supposedly has a good amount of graphic content, which may have intimidated Kangana.
Says a source close to the film, "Yes, Ragini MMS has a lot of explicit content. That could be one of the reasons why Kangana turned it down. She would have been ideal for this film, as she is a very strong actress, but it's okay. There is no animosity between Kangana and Ekta. Balaji is considering Kangana for other forthcoming projects."
When contacted, Ekta confirmed that Kangana is not doing Ragini MMS and said, "That's right. I did speak to Kangana about doing Ragini MMS. But then, the language in the film is very explicit.
While talking to Kangana, I felt that she was more inclined to do a love story, which I will do with her in the near future. So for now, it's going to be fresh faces in Ragini MMS." And Ekta is a pro at fishing fresh faces out of the crowd.
